Speak Up to Cut Costs!
In a recent nationwide poll of 2,131 adults, one in four said prescription drugs were a financial burden, yet half of them never discussed the problem with their doctors. Overall, 42 percent assumed that the doctors already knew what drug prices were. But doctors usually are unaware of what a medication will cost because prescription drug plans vary so widely.
When survey takers did ask their physician or pharmacist about prescription drug costs, 67 percent said their doctor recommended a less expensive drug and 37 percent said their pharmacist did.
