Flu season is here. Not only is the flu no fun, it can also be dangerous. “Adults 65 and older are at greater risk of serious complications from the flu,” says Andrew Renda, M>D. MPH, respiratory program manager, Humana Health Guidance Organization. “Getting the flu also greatly increases your risk of getting pneumonia.”
The flu is very contagious and can be easily passed to others. A flu shot is the best way to protect yourself and your family from getting the flu.
“Last year’s flu season started early and was severe,” says Dr. Renda.
Ask your doctor if you need a pneumonia shot, too.”
