Short sessions on an exercise bike helped older obese adults with type 2 diabetes in a 12-week study at the U.K.’s Newcastle University. Exercisers cycled at an intensity that felt challenging for 2 minutes(up to almost 4 minutes by study’s end), followed by 3 minutes of recovery, repeating the sequence 5 times, They improved their long-term blood-sugar control by a meaningful 0.3 percent, compared with a group that didn’t cycle.
