Symptoms begin in autumn and can include depression, decreased sex drive, diminished energy, concentration problems, greater need for sleep, fatigue, increased alcohol use, junk-food cravings, social isolation, suicidal thoughts, and/or weight gain.
What may help: Special SAD lamps, foods rich in omega-3 fatty acids, such as salmon and other oily fish, outdoor activities, a regular sleep schedule, vitamin D.
