Starting physical therapy as soon as you develop lower back pain might be a good idea. People who did had a lower probability of getting a prescription opioid (89 percent), having imaging scans (28 percent), and winding up in an emergency room (38 percent) compared with those who got physical therapy later or not at all.
That’s according to a recent study by the University of Washington.
