Lower your blood pressure with flax seeds! Lowering you salt intake and reducing your stress level are two well-known ways to rein in your blood pressure numbers. Now researchers also advise consuming two tablespoons of ground flax seeds daily, sprinkled, say, into your cereal or over salad. In a recent study, women with elevated blood pressure who followed this easy advise experienced a 15-point drop in systolic BP and a 7-point drop in diastolic BP within six months.
How it works: Together, the unique mix of healthy compounds in flax seeds, including alpha linoleic acid, lignans and fiber, reduce inflammation, boost artery health and relax arteries, allowing for better overall blood flow, report scientists in the journal Hypertension.
