Earwax is important for protecting ears, it collects dirt, dust and other matter, preventing these from getting farther into the ear.
Trying to clean the ears with cotton swabs, hairpins, toothpicks, and the like can push the wax further into the ear canal and cause hearing loss, dizziness and ringing in the ear. See a doctor if your ears are bothering you.
