Smart diet choices may help with asthma symptoms. People who ate plenty of produce, whole grains, nuts, beans, fish and olive oil and kept their consumption of meat, salt, and sugar to a minimum at lower odds of experiencing asthma symptoms than those who made less ideal food choices.
That’s according to a French study of 34,766 adults. A healthy diet was also associated with lower odds of poorly controlled asthma as measured by the need for recue medication and how much the condition interfered with daily life. Researchers say that healthy eating may promote a proper balance of “good” bacteria in the intestines, which may curb airway inflammation.
