Regularly sitting for 8 hours or more each day can increase the risk of death almost as much as smoking or obesity does. But an hour of daily moderate-intensity exercise may almost erase that additional risk, according to a European analysis of 16 studies involving more than 1 million people. Moderate activity is as easy as walking at just 3 to 31/2 miles per hour or biking at about 10 miles per hour.
