The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has warned that one strain of the flu that is circulating this year is a mutated form of H3N2 and that the flu vaccine can only partially protect against that strain. But the CDC still strongly recommends that people who haven’t been vaccinated be vaccinated. The vaccine reduces the likelihood of severe outcomes such as hospitalization and death.
