The University of Michigan’s National Poll on Healthy Aging which is cosponsored by AARP, asked nearly 2000 people ages 50 to 80 what should be done to protect nursing home patients and assisted-living residents from the flu. What they said:
55 percent believed all staff members should get flu vaccinations or lose their jobs.
93 percent said that vaccinations should be made available at all nursing homes.
47 percent supported giving bonus pay to staff members who get a vaccination.
82 percent were in favor of banning sick employees who did not get a vaccination.
