Alcohol Harms the Heart

It’s wise to get help if you are told that you abuse alcohol, which is defined as habitually needing alcohol and finding that it interferes with relationships. In addition to other risks, alcohol abuse can increase the likelihood of heart attack, heart failure, and the dangerous heart rhythm abnormality known as atrial fibrillation as much as or more than some better-known heart risk factors, such as high blood pressure, obesity, diabetes, and smoking.
