Dr. Oz says: Overweight puts you at a higher risk of heart disease, even if your numbers, cholesterol, blood sugar and blood pressure, are good.
A new study followed over 17,000 people and found that BMI was a independent risk factor for cardiovascular disease regardless of whether someone was metabolically healthy. Don’t get me wrong, it’s definitely a good thing that your numbers are in the right range. This means you probably have a lower risk of heart disease than others who are overweight or obese, but you can still lower that risk by shedding some pounds.
