Can phone coaching help you shed extra pounds?
Nine hundred and fifty-four obese adults who received personalized health advice by phone lost about 10 pounds in a year, while 19,080 people who got no such support gained weight or stayed the same in a recent study.
Participants set a goal with a coach during an initial call, then had brief chats as needed to stay on track. Some health insurance covers phone programs, so ask.
