Maintaining a normal vitamin D blood level is important for so many reasons, and the list keeps growing. Recent research has discovered two additional benefits from maintaining a high blood level of vitamin D, reduced risk cancer at all sites in the body and stronger muscles in general.

Here are eight reasons for getting enough vitamin D

The Institute of Medicine recommends 600 IU of vitamin D for adults up to age 70 and 800 IU for senior citizens ages 70 and older.
