Another Reason to Get Your Vitamin D

In a review of 17 studies, people low in vitamin D had a 31% higher risk of colon cancer compared with those at recommended levels. And supplements haven’t proved to help, researchers say.

U.S. Dietary Guidelines suggest focusing on food sources (fortified dairy, salmon, tuna, eggs). And because your skin makes D when exposed to sunshine, getting 5 to 30 minutes twice a week may help too.
