Big TV’s, furniture, and appliances can be serious hazards if they’re not anchored to prevent tip-overs, especially for kids, who might be tempted to use shelves and drawers for climbing. More than 43,000 people go to emergency rooms each year for injuries from falling household items, nearly half of them age 8 and younger Anti-tip brackets and straps that secure furniture to walls can help, as can placing TV’s on low, sturdy bases.
