Keep your skin healthy and protected from sun exposure by following these simple tips:
1. After showering or bathing in the morning, generously apply a moisturizer with broad-spectrum sunscreens with an SPF of at least 15. It’s important to protect the skin on your body as well as on your face.
2. If you are going to spend significant time outdoors near water, sand, or snow, use a product with at least SPF 30 and reapply every 2 to 4 hours.
3. When outside wear protective clothing, such as a long-sleeved shirt, pants, a wide-brimmed hat, and sunglasses.
4. Seek shade and remember the sun’s damaging rays are strongest between 10AM and 4PM.
5. If you notice any changes in the size, shape, color or feel of birthmarks, moles, or freckles, see your dermatologist.
6. If you’re using any medications, ask your doctor or pharmacist if any of these can make your skin more sensitive to the sun, which means daily sun protection is even more important.
